I have been an organic consumer since about 1986, but now because of Big Bad Brother(s) at the USDA and US-FDA, I'm finding that some of my favorite fresh produce has disappeared from the shelves of Albertson's, as well as local health food stores. Never before, have I seen the lack of organic produce in the produce section of the stores, and I know that the economy IS NOT THE REASON.

Since the USDA appointments of Big Brother, organic is gone. I understand that part of the reason is that CCOF lost their certification through the Agricultural Marketing Service for strictly political reasons.

I still want organic, but find it equally important to purchase Non-GMO Project Verified produce. To learn about the Non-GMO Project, which is NOT part of the USDA or the U.S. government, go to:

http://www.nongmoproject.org/consumers/who-we-are-and-what-we-do/

This is a way for consumers to get the produce for which we are willing to pay, without going through the USDA, Vilisack, and the agrichemical appointees who are making dangerous health threatening policy changes.

California Certified Organic Farmers can also become part of the Non-GMO Project. I'm working to educate consumers where I live to look for the Non-GMO label.

Please, join us.

Sorry to be pedantic Ken, but the U.K. is definately a full and active member of the EU (just not the Euro currency). The European parliament sets EU-wide guidelines for most things, including Organic certification and standards, and the individual member countries, including the UK, tend to have their own certification bodies which, as a minimum, meet EU standard - often with a few extra requirements on top. The EU tend to deal externally using it's guidelines for international trade & labelling agreements, so individual countries, including the UK, will always meet these criteria, and then some.
